Our Mission

The Communication Squadron is responsible for managing, creating, distributing, and safeguarding information that supports unit operations, public engagement, historical documentation, and cadet awareness while incorporating Air Force communication principles and professional information management practices.

  • Provides overall supervision of Communication Squadron operations.
  • Approves major publications and communication products.
  • Coordinates with Group Staff and SASI/ASI.
  • Ensures all communication activities support unit objectives.
  • Oversees compliance with communication security and approval procedures.

Promote the unit through public communication, media production, recruiting support, community outreach, and historical documentation.

Unit Webstie

  • Repair or report broken links within 72 hours of discovery.
  • Verify that contact information is current and accurate.
  • Ensure all pages are accessible and functioning properly.
  • Maintain professional formatting and appearance standards.
  • Remove duplicate, outdated, or inaccurate information immediately.

Yearbook

  • Obtain photographs from unit events within seven calendar days of the event.
  • Ensure all major activities are documented through photographs and written records whenever possible.
  • Collect participant names and event details for accurate identification and captions.
  • Coordinate with event organizers and squadron representatives to obtain missing information.
  • Verify names, ranks, positions, and award recipients before publication.

Media Team

  • Attend and document major unit events when assigned.
  • Capture a variety of photographs and videos that accurately represent the event.
  • Obtain photographs of participants, leadership, ceremonies, awards, competitions, and significant activities.
  • Record sufficient media to support social media posts, newsletters, recruiting materials, website updates, and yearbook production.
  • Upload all media to designated storage locations within 72 hours of event completion.

Internal Affairs Flight

Weekly Newsletter

  • Develop and maintain a monthly publication schedule.
  • Ensure newsletters are accurate, professional, and visually organized.
  • Follow established communication standards regarding grammar, spelling, formatting, and professionalism.
  • Coordinate with Media Team personnel for photographs and media content.
  • Submit draft editions through the established approval process before publication.

Information Display Systems

Provide cadets, instructors, and visitors with timely, accurate, and professional information through the use of digital display systems located within the AFJROTC facilities.
The Communication Squadron shall maintain three designated information displays to support communication, recognition, and historical awareness throughout the Corps of Cadets.
The Unit Highlights Display shall showcase photographs and media from recent AFJROTC activities to document unit accomplishments, preserve historical records, and promote esprit de corps.

Archive

  • Archiving all published announcements and newsletters in designated squadron folders.
  • Organizing records by school year, month, and document type.
  • Maintaining both current and historical versions of documents when revisions are issued.
  • Ensuring records remain accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Preserving communication records for future reference, inspections, and historical documentation.
  • Transferring archives to incoming personnel during annual staff transitions.
